For the Hardy Team working with Buyers and Sellers means having a responsibility to give 110 percent advocating for Fair Housing practices. In my career, I have had the privilege of serving on a site and area board for the Dept of Mental Health for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. When working in Real Estate I put my advocacy energy into serving on a DEI Council for my brokerage and this led me to serve on a DEI task force with my local Board here in Maine. It was eye opening discovering the nature of unintended bias in Real Estate practices and learn to educate myself and local members in ways that we can “Do Better” in our day to day activities serving our clients. This year I moved from co- chair to chair of the Task Force as well as serving as a director.
The image here depicts a public awareness Bus Wrap for our community in hopes that in these challenging times where it’s difficult to find rental homes that are affordable as well as purchasing a home that is well built and a good investment which provides a safe haven for living and may create a lineage of generational wealth.
Also this year was my first opportunity to participate in Pride Portland. Having been in the Boston Pride parade before covid, I found the experience as an ally emotional and hopeful. This year in Portland the weather decided to deluge us with joyful rain as we marched in hope and in recognition of LGBTQ siblings who have suffered simply for being themselves.
I am so honored to be in this profession and so grateful for the professionals I work with and the clients i serve, who usually end of feeling like family.
